  • Thompson Hine was recognized by The American Lawyer as one of the top seven law firms for its inaugural Legal Services Innovation Award, which recognizes law firms that have significantly changed the way they do business and deliver legal services to provide enhanced value to the client.   • Thompson Hine repeated its top-tier placement in the U.S. News – Best Lawyers® 2022 Best Law Firms rankings, earning national and regional recognition. The IP Stars USA list highlights the country's leading intellectual property attorneys who have been highly recommended by their peers and clients.
  • Twenty-nine Thompson Hine lawyers were selected for inclusion in Benchmark Litigation 2021, the only publication on the market to focus exclusively on litigation in the United States. The firm received the highest possible ranking, “highly recommended,” for Dispute Resolution and Labor and Employment in Ohio. The firm is also recommended in these areas in Georgia.
  • In 2020, IFLR 1000 ranked Thompson Hine as a leading financial and corporate firm in New York and among the top Ohio firms for banking, M&A, real estate, and restructuring and insolvency. In addition, 11 lawyers were individually recognized.
  • Thompson Hine was recognized in the 2018 edition of LMG Life Sciences, published by the Legal Media Group in association with Euromoney Institutional Investor. The publication recommends the firm in the area of Product Liability Litigation. In addition, five partners were listed as Life Sciences Stars.   • One hundred thirty-one lawyers from Thompson Hine were selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2021. In addition, 16 partners were named Best Lawyers 2021 Lawyers of the Year, an honor reserved for only one lawyer per practice area from each geographic location.

  • Thompson Hine achieved certification in Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule 4.0 initiative. Named for Arabella Mansfield, the first woman admitted to practice law in the United States, the Mansfield Rule is designed to boost the representation of diverse lawyers in law firm leadership by broadening the pool of candidates considered for these opportunities. The firm is now pursuing Mansfield 5.0 certification.
  • Thompson Hine earned the top rating of 100% and recognition as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality” on the 2022 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), an annual survey administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. Employers earning top ratings took concrete steps to ensure greater equity for LGBTQ workers and their families in the form of comprehensive policies, benefits and practices.

  • Thompson Hine was ranked #22 on’s 2016 list of the country’s 25 Best Law Firms for Women. The firm also was recognized as one of the top 25 law firms in the Midwest. Vault’s rankings are based on surveys of active employees and independent feedback received from current and former employees.
  • Thompson Hine was named to Law360’s 2015 list of the 100 Best Law Firms for Female Attorneys, which ranks the best U.S. law firms for women, based on a firm’s female representation at the partner and nonpartner levels and its total number of female attorneys.
  • For six straight years, Thompson Hine received Gold Standard Certification from The Women in Law Empowerment Forum. Law firms with 300 or more practicing lawyers in the United States are eligible for the certification if they successfully demonstrate that women represent a meaningful percentage of their equity partners, of their highest leadership positions, of their governance and compensation committees, and of their most highly compensated partners.
  • Thompson Hine was named to the 2015 Commission 50, an annual recognition of progress in creating, enhancing and sustaining diversity and inclusion strategies, by the Commission on Economic Inclusion, a program of the Greater Cleveland Partnership. The firm also received the Commission’s 2011 Best-in-Class award for Middle Market Senior Management Diversity for “building and maintaining a diverse and inclusive organization.” Thompson Hine is the first law firm to receive a Best-in-Class award from the Commission.
  • The Euromoney Legal Media Group Americas Women in Business Law Awards in 2014 honored Thompson Hine for a second consecutive year as the best national firm for talent management for its Spotlight on Leaders program. In addition, the firm was shortlisted in six categories – best national firm for women in business law, best gender diversity initiative by a national firm, best mentoring program, best national firm for diversity, best firm for work-life balance and best firm in the U.S. Midwest. In 2012, the firm’s Women’s Initiative, Spotlight on Women®, was recognized as the best gender diversity initiative by a national firm.
  • The Ohio Women’s Bar Association named Thompson Hine the OWBA Family Friendly Award recipient for 2013–2014. The award recognizes the firm for being a pacesetter in implementing best practices to enhance the career and personal success of the professionals working for the firm.

  • Thompson Hine received two inaugural Diversity & Inclusion Innovation Awards presented by the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA), developed to recognize and celebrate individuals and organizations that are building genuine cultures of inclusion within their respective spheres of influence. Former managing partner David J. Hooker was awarded the 2012 Diversity & Inclusion Pioneer Award, given to a lawyer who has pioneered and/or championed diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.
